The new Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 gaming consoles have been out a couple of months and if you were lucky enough to pick one up and also own an NVIDIA Shield TV you’ll be glad to learn that you can now connect your new gaming controllers. That’s right, the best little Android streamer now supports your DualSense controller and Xbox Series X/S gamepads.

Support for the next-gen controllers is added to the NVIDIA Shield TV with the 8.2.2 software update that also adds the Discovery+ and Noggin’s streaming apps.

Connecting the gaming pads is as simpled as turning on Bluetooth discovery mode on the Shield TV and pressing the pairing button on the Xbox controller until the Xbox button blinks or the Share/Clip buttons on the DualSense controller until the light pulses blue. This means you can now use your favorite gaming controllers with NVIDIA’s GeForce Now gaming streaming service. IR volume support for the Shield remote with Denon receivers has also been added.

NVIDIA has once again proven its commitment to providing software updates and meaningful new features to its Shield TV platform.
